The annual lifeguard event involves lifeguard teams from throghout the Southern Section of the L.A. Fire Department's Lifeguards. The Hermosa Team won. Matt Smart is pictured in green. The lights are featured here because they failed, and had to be replaced by lights from the Redondo Beach Fire Department. Because the lights failed, the dorries, which normally are included in the final event, were not used -- too dangerous and too late because of the light delay.
