I remember being at the Belvedere for this extensive exhibit. Two things struck me: first, the view of the Duomo as framed by a huge Henry Moore sculpture at the top of the ramp leading up to the exhibit. Second, I was so tired of Madonna's and Child that this was a true breath of fresh air in the midst of Italy. So, close to forty years later, it remains one of the highlights of my life.

Moore and Hepworth made some of the abiding art of the 20th century. I always think of them in the company of Francis Bacon; as someone said a biomorphic, phantasmagorical imagining of the human body. The square format is perfect for framing these creations.

As previously mentioned, I was actually there in 1972 as an art student. For those many years since, I remember with such awe the magnificence of Moore's biomorphic forms from that show. Adal, I am so anxious to see your other images of this retrospective. Your ability to seize precisely what Moore has intended in these grand works leaves me breathless!
