YueFenPai

YueFenPai are Chinese posters of the 1920's to 1930's, often used for advertising. Also called Shanghai Posters, most were simply thrown away and many of the remaining were destroyed during the cultural revolution, so very diffucult to find Original posters now. These are some of the Posters in my collection, will photograph more as time allows. Most Posters measure appx. 20x30". Some shot with Canon 20D with 55mm Micro Nikkor, others shot with Canon 5D with Leitz 60mm Macro Elmarit.

I received, as a gift, an Original vintage Shanghai COW soap ad poster. I read an article about these posters in the Mar 30, 2002 "Washington Post". I am wondering what is the value of this piece. It is approx 29x20.Can you tell me how to find out the value; where to ask, if you do not have the information. Thank you for your time and attention.

Hi, may I check with you how do I know whether a Shanghai poster I get is original from the 1920 - 30s? Are there any things to look out for such as paper, metal piece, color etc? Would really appreciate your reply, if possible a detailed one. Thanks =)

I have obtained (in Chengdu) a collection of 40 (now 35 as I gave 5 as gifts) 1930 Shanghai posters. They were in an old worn binder with the poster from Sing Kee Picture Company on the cover.These are quite different from what I am seeing being sold as they are all 26cm wide by 38cm in length and printed on what I am told is rice paper. Are you familair with such poters? Thank you

Thanks Arlen for putting up this gallery...and such huge files too! Good job on the reproductions. I've got the Faithful Dog and Penelope IHBS. are these originals from that period or reproductions? would love to see the rest of your collection.
