Seeing yourself is better than a thousand words. Just open two browsers and compare side by side. THERE IS NO NEED FOR YOU TO CLICK INTO EACH THUMBNAIL. Note this test is all about sharpness only. Other factors that you should consider are focusing speed, weight, and of course, cost.
I think this lens test is more useful for digital rather than film because we often open at 100% in computer but seldom print >12R in film.
One big problem I forsee is - do I need to retake all corner tests when we are all using 1:1x CMOS. Not 1.6x anymore.
Remember, there is not best lens. There is only suitable lens.
Last of all, if you think I deserve some credit with my effort, please give me a vote for this gallery. Thanks!

Excellent gallery and good view of highglights and truth about lenses. this also confirms what i tested and confirms the fact that lenses are getting unsharper when you close the iris. Best work with a lens is allways in the midrange of the iris shuttings.
I was surprised about the Tamron getting so much unsharp at the edges while the Sigma realy performs well. I use some Sigma 28-105 lenses on my Nikons and i am quiete happy with those. Good gallery to forward to those who wanna know
