I just got back from spending 2 weeks in HK. Before I went I had the opportunity to look at your photos. They made me excited to go to HK. Now that I'm back in the States, it's exciting to look through your photos and recognize the places I went in the past weeks.

Just wanted to say that I think your photos are amazing. I'll be happy if 10 of my thousands of photos came out nearly as beautiful as yours!
prithibi 19-May-2008 14:24
it is very fascinating and stunning but the pictures are very hazy and tiny too. but any way i enjoyed the pictures and the scenery. well done for the photographer and am looking forward to viewing more pictures in coming days.

with lots of comments.

I was born in Shanghai in 1944....liver in HKG from 1948 to 1952. Have been back in 1969...1970...1972... a a few other times....but it has been over 18 years that I haven't been back. I will go this year (2008). Loved your photos! Do you have photos of "food"?

Unbelievable collection. I'm so impressed.
wallawalla55 04-Dec-2007 21:00
The photos and HK are fantastic but they all seem to be taken at night when the lights do their magic. When I arrived to work and live 30 years ago it was a differnt place but still beautiful and was an amazing place to live. Whilst I would still love to live there, it is a different place to that I remember when I left 18 years ago. (Through redundancy)

Hi Codino : Any plan for a day-time album? Should be very interesting. Further, there should be new additions given Hong Kong such a place of fast pace./ Edmond

Your photos are both inspired and inspiring. Your night shots are the best I have ever seen and your water drops are fantastic. I certainly hope you have been able to sell your work. They would be wonderful in books, magazines, calendars and postcards.

Rey 25-Sep-2006 09:42
Your photos are great! From your surname, I guess you are a Filipino just like me. I have visited Hong Kong twice in the past. But by purpose, they were not trips that leave happy memories. The first one was for my ailing dad and the second one was to be with him during his final days. For me, Hong Kong and my dad are one and the same. It is for this reason that I find solace in your pictures. I am glad that you have captured the grace and dignity of Hong Kong, in the same degree that my dad fought cancer! May the good Lord continue to give you energy, resources and inspirations to pursue your goals. Many thanks.

I was in Hong Kong last July 13, 2006 and the place was stupendous. I loved the food. I took an MTR day pass and went around Hong Kong from 7AM to 10 PM. I ate all the tropical fruits that were in season. People were so affable and accommodating. I am going back again next year to visit the new territory and most likely visit the main land China.

Extremely awsome pics. I've just came back from HK a week ago and your pics just remind me why I love it so much there. I haven't been there for 16 years but after this time, I'll always go back to HK.
Codino A.C. Divino 06-Apr-2006 14:58
Bonzai,

In Hong Kong, you can take photo in concert for local artists for free (it seems like people go there to take picture, like me, rather than to listen to the songs). For foreign artists, it should be more strict but I haven't tried so.

Codino
Bonzai 06-Apr-2006 14:52
Hi Codino (or Allen??),
Just wondering how you managed to take pics inside concerts? I thought one's not allowed to do so...anyway, I'm crazy about live concerts, but haven't been to one for a loooong time, coz no bands I like coming our way. Am quite a fan of Sandy's music, will check out your Sandy's gallery.

Cheers.

Bonzai 06-Apr-2006 14:36
Hi Codino,
I'm completely new to digital photography, as I mentioned, I don't own a DC but am researching on getting one. I don't want to get a point-and-shoot, would like to get something like a Canon PowerShot S2 IS. Do you have any recommendations for an allrounder DC, sort of one level up to a point-and-shoot?
whatver_junior 06-Apr-2006 01:39
I know lots of people have made this comment already but your pictures of Hong Kong are simply fantastic! What about some photos of Hong Kong Park at night? It's a very nice place where you can have different views of Central! I used to go there on friday nights when I was totally burned out after work...now that I'm studying abroad in Providence, USA, I really miss home...
Anton 31-Mar-2006 17:30
I want mp3 player. What will advise?
Wyatt_Earp 30-Mar-2006 21:22
Lot's of nice photos of the beautiful side of modern Hong Kong. But not what I was looking for. I'm looking for photos of the areas where the poorer people live and eat (when they eat at a restaurant). Areas more "traditional-looking", areas that haven't changed much since 1920's colonial Hong Kong.

The reason being, before I waste a lot of time and money on a location scouting trip to Hong Kong, I want to see if I even see anything in any photos that I think would make the trip worthwhile. Otherwise, I could skip Hong Kong and concentrate on Singapore, Macao, Bangkok, Manila, and Saigon.
Codino A.C. Divino 30-Mar-2006 10:21
Bonzai, Bingo! You are the first one to get this! How do you want me to reward you? :>
Bonzai 30-Mar-2006 08:49
Wow, you've captured amazing pictures with your eyes and cameras! Makes me really miss HK when I look at your pictures. So how long have you been in HK? Oh, I know where your gf is in your profile, she's the one wearing the Baggio's shirt, right? I'm still dying for my first digital camera -- don't laugh. I'm still using my faithful Ricoh FF-10, a point-and-shoot. Man this little camera's hardy, dropped it twice and still manages to take good pictures, as well as weathering the snowy cold in Europe, while my sister's Canon was reluctant to wake up from its hibernation. :)

Hi Codino

You've got amazing pics here.. especially pics of HK. One suggestion would be to group the individual galleries into their categories, like 'HK pictures', 'Model pics', 'Macro' etc.

Keep taking great pics - will come back and see more
monet 30-Dec-2005 03:16

I don't know how to Say my emotions when I watch these pics.
You've helped Hong Kong expressed its real beauty.
Stunning, spectacular & marvelous.

that is so amazing...i very like hong kong place expecially at night..there all places is so bright...hope one day i can go hong kong.
Barbara 09-Dec-2005 11:04
The photos actually look much better than the real "Hong Kong". I am not saying that Hong Kong is not a beautiful place but it is always crowded with people and recently with some outbreak of diseases. Anyway, very nice photos with a very modern view of Hong Kong- a place that I called HOME.
Jas 08-Dec-2005 14:48
The photos of Hong Kong are very well-taken... well done! :)
I've recently made my 1st trip to Hong Kong and your photos reminded me of the sights and sounds I've seen... I'd definitely miss Hong Kong!
Juelz 05-Dec-2005 00:32
Thanks for the pictures. I've to Hong Kong 7 or 8 times and every time i go i fall in love with the city. The people are great and the city is so beautiful. The nightlife is arugably the best in the world and they have the hottest women there. Truly a cosmopolitan city!
Maggie 04-Dec-2005 07:35
Awesome pictures :) I'm currently working in the US and was considering about settling down, now after looking at your gallery, i'm debating if i should go home again.
Vangelis 02-Dec-2005 12:08
Hey
This is Vangelis from Athens, Greece. I am planning to visit HK within the next two or three months to prepare the ground for my postgraduate studies because i wanna do some business in China, like other 1,000,000,000 people from the western societies! Thanks for these great photos. I think i will love that place.
Thanks
Evan 02-Dec-2005 11:08
HK, a city never sleep, had been showed in your pictures. Could you help to bring people see another side of HK, such as nature includes; sand, flowers, birds, wind and etc that I know we don't have much but we do have.
Rob 29-Nov-2005 21:01
Your photos brought tears to my eyes. I am part Chinese from UK and lived in HK for 14 years. My boys were born there, but we were forced to return to uk 2 years ago when our business partner screwed us, and we lost everything. Hong Kong is truly a VERY special place, and I am sure there isn't another place in the world like it. My heart is still there.
Greg 27-Nov-2005 17:21
Great photos! I have been to Hong Kong 3 times and your photos brought back great memories!
Kerrie 24-Nov-2005 11:03
Your photos are wonderful! My thirteen year old son travelled to Hong Kong yesterday with his friend's family. Now I know how lucky he is. I will show him your photos when he returns. Thankyou for the priviledge of viewing them.

Hello, I believe that you are not a Chinese from Hong Kong(Your name) and I really appreciate that you post these pictures of a foreign place, it's like you're promoting HK. I've been there 5 years ago and I'm pretty sure it changed a lot in these past years. Your pictures are really nice, I don't know how to say it but they are more than just nice. Did you take these pictures?
filipan yan 17-Nov-2005 17:19
Hey Codino, no word hs been invented to describe your pictures, they are more than breathtaking... I don't know,i told you there's no word yet that could describe the pictures you took. I am now in the Phillipines, a Hong Kong citizen. Just looking at the pictures just makes me REALLY homesick!!!!! But thanks for posting them up, at least i'v e got a little something to look at when I can't be in the city I grew up in within a snap of a finger. A BIG thanks again!
Fabien 15-Nov-2005 17:55
Fantastic, I am planning to settle myself in HK within next year and to be honnest, for a little French guy like me, seeing those pictures give me a strange feeling. A bit of fear but so attracted at the same time... bye bye Paris I found a new girlfriend !
scott jones 11-Nov-2005 06:51
This is by far my favourite gallery to date! I try to travel to hong kong every year and its always a blast, my father lives opposite the driving range above the kowloon airport express mtr station. if i wanted to comment on hong kong, i'd never shut up, so i'll just comment on the photography. the camera work is very nice and very lucky! i say lucky because hong kong air isn't clear for long whenever it does clear. i have not looked at your older gallery yet, but i'd like to offer some places to photograph next time you are around.

1. little strip of bars/restraunts at stanley (smuggler's inn)thats my fav bar! tell mary lou on the bar that scott from australia said hi and you may get a free drink ;)

2. Royal hong kong yaught club

3. some of the mid levels foliage/roads (roberston road)

4. shek o

thanks again for presenting a brilliant gallery for us all!

Whoops! Sorry, a typo. Read that as 'We visited HK in Aug. 2002 and just spent two and a half days there.'
s. shankar 31-Oct-2005 07:29
Some of the most amazing examples of night photography I've ever seen! I've bookmarked your site both at home at at work, and keep referring to them again, and again, and again. We visited HK in Aug. 2005 and just spent two and a half days there. I was greatly attracted by the beauty of the city at night. I still regret not photographing the Peak tower (though I visited it twice). We also did not visit Nathan Road and Tsim Tsa Tsui: we lived in Causeway Bay and spent the two and a half days taking bus tours from the Excelsior. My son and I are mad about HK, and we will certainly be visiting your beautiful city once again!
Check our some of my photos: these are shot in 2002 on good old film. I'm mostly digital now, but know I'll never be able to match your photos!
Look forward to seeing more and more of these masterpieces from you.

The most wonderful photo collection of HK I've ever seen. Please continue ! Don't fear overload. You might create a few sub-directories, e.g. per region (Wan Chai, Kowloon, etc.)

A truly global city. In never been to Hong Kong, but I knew that this is one of the most attractive cities in the world. This amazing pictures reminded me how wonderful and grace Hong Kong is! I love it.I'd visit for sure one day when I have time.
paul 29-Sep-2005 21:59
been looking for a site with exquisite night city scenes. My search is over! You should get into large prints and charge for it - they are good enough (some sites dont even let you access their images, unless u pay). I'd certainly pay up for some of your sweet views of Hong Kong.
Not a critisism, but some more intimate pics would be good, focusing on more architectural detail: sometimes a side street or an obscure window frame can give more than a city-scape. Keep up the city-scapes though, best on the web.
Bobby 26-Sep-2005 13:17

Hello Codino,

I have been visiting Hong Kong from Canada since Aug.26th, and will be leaving Sept. 6th. I've been fortunate enough to see a great deal, and feel blessed to have my world so expanded. Our schools could do so much more for students if they would just take them to these marvelous lands instead of repeating tired and worn out geography lessons.

May I make a challenge to you? How about a series of photos on the people of Hong Kong... at work, at play, sharing a meal, caring for their children. You are a land of such respect for each other, and for visitors... can you capture that on film?

I take home with me not only wonderful memories, but a much more gentile respect for my fellow man. Thank-you Hong Kong for your hospitality... I take home with me far more than I can ever return. Please accept my deepest respect and a promise to visit again soon.

Once again, Well Done.

You have some relli neat pictures of Hong Kong! But are most of them edited??
David 07-Aug-2005 09:03
Thank you for sharing these beautiful pictures. I just returned less than 8 hours ago from Hong Kong and I miss it already. What a truly vibrant and fantastic city. The people, sites, food, city charm were outstanding! Your pictures capture it's essence very well. I too will return soon to my favourite city- Hong Kong.
SSHK 06-Aug-2005 00:01
Pictures are phenomenal - very artistic...but since you said you want suggestions...these are just my personal opinions - all or most of your pictures seem to feature HK's cityscape at night. No doubt it really shows its almost unparalelled glamour and wealth, but a city doesn't run on just money...there's people there, and they're not all owls. Show people what there are in HK beyond the skyscrapers and blinding lights at night - the unique and vibrant culture of HK-nians. Don't get me wrong, your photography skills are amazing - I would just like to see something closer to the HK that I knew.
Missing our fav city,
SSHK (this is actually the initials of my name...not Super Special Hong Kong or anything like that...but I guess it's open for intepretation; you can call me that if you want)

Hi Codino,
Your photographs are excellent. I've been to HK on business three times but it wasn't until my most recent trip last month that I had a chance to take pictures. Unfortunately I've been away from photography for 15 years and just returned in Feb'05 with my 20D. It's not good being a poor photographer in such a wonderful city. I always tell people in the US how beautiful and wonderful the people and places of HK are; and you are showing the world just that. I love your hometown. You are very talented, keep up the great work. You can view my so-so images at pbase/vallev. Take care.
Best Regards,
Victor Valle
