so sad but makes me so proud to be an american my father is now 85 he fought with the americal in the phillipines..leyte..mindanau..cebu..was taking amphibious training for the invasion of japan when they dropped the bomb americal was to be in the early waves so my ideas about the bomb are pretty plain..maybe some arent but i am damn proud to live here..they really were a great generation..there sacrifices will never be forgotten as long as i live..my fathers brother 2 years older now deceased fought with the 82nd in europe jumped at d day..market garden..and all the way to the end.. they both were drafted from the tiny community of rocky branch la. poor farm boys who never made it through school very proud of them and all veterans..thanks for your fathers service to our nation and thank you for sharing these valuable pictures...respectfully yours..greg.
