James, represented as a clergyman of the period, carries a skull in his right hand, whilst clasping his wife's hand with the other.James died Nov. 29th 1668
Joanne, holds a curious object in her left hand, the exact nature of which, it is difficult to determine. As the skull represents death, it is thought that as Joanne is the only one not carrying a skull, she could have been responsible for commissioning the monument.
