Leaf
At first glance I thought that this was a butterfly wing but no, a leaf blown in from the garden. It must have missed the occasional floor brushing I do and lodged itself under the dresser. Now if I'd swept thoroughly it wouldn't have been there and I wouldn't have had a happy half hour taking photos of it.
The older I get the more I believe the saying "show me a tidy house and I'll show you a woman/man with a wasted life" maybe that's a bit harsh but then again, maybe not ;)

:)
I spent today taking photos around the Ruby Country Market in Hatherleigh, Devon. It's great to see how many talented people there are in the South West.
Crafts, food, drink, you name it and it was most likely there.
I must admit that I rather fell for this sign :)

Ahhh warm...
I've been having a problem getting warm lately even with the central heating on all day so it's good to get the bathroom warm and steamy. Fortunately we have a large hot water tank so I can have the shower/taps running for quite a while. :)
Have a lovely weekend everyone - keep warm!

Mabel
We belong to that strange section of people who name things - pets of course, toys, cars, computer/tech equipment, plants...... So let me introduce you to Mabel :))

Wool
I braved the cold, got out of the car and took this photo of sheep's wool.
It's a bit early for sheep to be sheared but there was a fair quantity of wool lying around in this field pen and I can't think of another reason it'd be there.
It was so cold I wasn't out of the car for many minutes.
Oh for Spring and some warmth.

A Rose
The cold is getting into my poor old bones and so I didn't venture far today.
Good job I have flowers in the house. :)

Smile
This lovely lady was at Rosemoor today and agreed to pose for a photo.
I was with Camera Club members setting up an exhibition in the Education Centre. We have been lucky enough to be given a gallery there until Christmas and will be showing sets of photos for 6 weeks at a time. It's a great place to hold an exhibition and it'll be interesting to read the visitors book.
This lady was hoping to have a look in the gallery but we had frames and prints all over the place at the time. I hope that she comes back for a proper look.

Hellebore
These brave flowers bloom through the worst of the weather being winter flowers.
They are starting to look a bit scruffy now but still good enough to be admired.
As with the Euphorbia I took a photo of earlier in the week these Hellebores are poisonous and
best not touched unless you wear gardening gloves.

Leaves
I had to take some dying leaves off a house plant and, waste not want not, I used them for my
PaD. They look a bit alien, interesting but alien.

Me & Hat
I'm not sure that it would have been a good idea to wear this outside today.
For one thing the rain would have spoiled it and for another I'd have been chasing it all over the place as the wind was very strong at times.
Have a happy and dry weekend everyone!

Determined not to look.
Some friends came round today with their lovely little girl Ysabel. She "posed" for me for a while but then
decided that enough was enough as any sensible nearly 3 year old would do!
20-MAR-2013
Euphorbia
Common name Spurge with poisonous and caustic sap (latex) it's not one for a family garden but is very striking.
Some of the common names of various Species give a hint at just how unpleasant these plants can be - Rattlesnake Weed, Medusa's Head, Firestick and Devil's Backbone to name just a few.
That said it's a lovely plant to look at - just remember to keep your distance!!

Discarded
it's always sad to see the end of flowers, even if for us photographers it means another photo "op"
Starting from April I will be changing back to a conventional PBase Style Sheet. Several have commented that this font is difficult to read - I suspect that there may be others of you who feel the same....... shame as I love this font but can't work out how to enlarge it :(

Holding it together.
I was trying to find a way through a fence to get to an old Railway hut but unfortunately I didn't
have any scissors with me...sigh!

Setting up
Late sunlight creating shadows through the window of the room I laughingly call my "Studio" :)
Nobody noticed the bird yesterday then??
16-MAR-2013
High flyer.
The clouds have been wonderful all day and the added bonus was a bit of a surprise.

Just one
Have a Happy Weekend everyone!

Hiding
You can't see Spike as he's hiding behind the stool.
As well as hiding he also likes to sit on the curtains so my idea of having long, floaty curtains "puddled" on the floor maybe isn't such a good idea.

Innards
I'm so proud of my daughter Olivia. Today she built this computer, starting with an empty case, a bunch of wires and a lot of boxes of "bits"
Now she has a working computer with green "innards" courtesy of ... I know not what.
I was just happy to sit and watch and marvel!

Broken
This is the time of year when pots succumb to the cold, no matter if they were originally sold as "Frost Resistant"
I'll have to look through the various sheds to find replacements as several have gone this way. The plant is safely heeled in awaiting it's new home.
11-MAR-2013
Tree
As it was starting to snow my drive round the lanes was curtailed, I wanted to get home and warm. Not that the car heater isn't any good but I wanted more permanent warmth.
I hope I don't wake to real snow tomorrow but it's possible as I could see that it had already settled up on the Moor.

The key to the door
The new "old" lock on the front door. At last it's finished.
As you see, I keep all sorts of ribbons :)

Nuts
In the days before the availability of a vast variety of Wild Bird Food I can remember my Mum buying peanuts in their shells and showing me how to thread them on a piece of string using a bodkin. The string of nuts was then hung up in a tree or by a window and we could watch the birds demolish the shells and fly away with the nuts. Simple pleasures.

Me
I spent some time playing around with my lights today. It's painstaking when you have to be the photographer, the lighting assistant AND the model!
Fun though :)
Have a lovely weekend everyone.

Snowdrops
We have a huge number of Snowdrops around the garden and several different varieties. Unfortunately I don't know enough about them to be able to distinguish them apart, except for the differences in height. These are some of the taller ones, they appear after the others and last quite a lot longer. A quick check on Google tells me that there are about 20 Species of Galanthus together with several cultivars, all pretty and a pleasure to see!

Stanley
I have no idea why I am so fascinated by the stall which sells old tools, maybe because my father worked in Engineering and maintained and mended his own cars and bikes so I've always been used to tools around the place. They have a real beauty of their own, well made for a purpose and lovingly, sometimes elegantly made too. The stall holder is used to me taking photos and today as he had a prospective customer he left me to poke around among the shelves where I found Stanley.

One cat sofa
It's strange because when we bought this sofa it was described as a 3 seater sofa ie. room for 3 persons to sit, or in this case one long cat to lie. Spike certainly makes himself comfortable and isn't it a good job we have 2 sofas?!

Temporarily redundant.
I managed to cough my way up to the shed, take this shot with my phone and
cough my way back to the warmth of the sitting room. I'm not a lover of hot weather but...
www.anncourtney.com
I can't get this link to work to my web site so until I've worked out how to make it work
you can always copy & paste it. :)

Catkins
I found these whilst pottering round the garden doing bits of pruning. No pollen left but they're so delicate and pretty. About 10 minutes after I took the photo Spike decided that they might be edible... sigh!

Me & Hat
I'm never sure if this type of hat suits me but it's warm and that counts for a lot in
this chilly weather
