Old French Cars in Africa

Is Madagascar the place where old Citroens, Peugeots and Renaults go to die, or have they just been reincarnated? The Renault 4 is almost ubiquitos in the cities of Madagascar and the Citroen 2CV is also a very common site.

Unfortunately a subsequent trip to East Africa showed the countries of Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Burundi and Rwanda to be almost totally lacking in French cars.
