Don Libardo grows onions,plaintains and bell peppers; he used to cultivate coffee but he could not compete with the bigger growers, specially since his remaining 3 sons left for the capital in search of a better future.The oldest was taken by the leftist guerrillas. Now his wife and his only daughter ( A happy accident since they had closed the "baby factory " over a decade ago) take care of the "finquita" or small farm.
I took the original photograph in Colombia while crossing a river, I felt that a oil painting look would be a nice portrait of this brave man.
