Just spending a weekend in Rocky Mountain...I would say that the trip is worth every penny: scenic drive, fresh air, a lot of wildlife spots (elks, moose, chipmunks, colorful birds, etc,), nice foliages, and of course, plenty of shots opportunities!
The 'impromptu' trip (just planned the route right after renting a car :-) started from the airport to the city of Boulder on Friday morning (just FYI, if you choose to use the tollway, be ready with a lot of coins since you have to go through four tolls stops, each stop costs you $2!). After passing Boulder, the trip followed the route to Estelle Park. This is a small but beautiful city, perfect for a short stop for lunch. The trip was then continuesd further up to the Rocky Mountain National park area. To enter this park, you have to pay for about $20 but this will give you about one week access to the park...a lot of de-route and nice stopping points throughout this area. I then headed to the peak,it is a Tundra Alpine area, lying about ~13,000-ft above the sea level, which was considered as the highest peak of the mountain from Colorado side. There were some nice spots on the top but you have to walk for about 30 minutes to reach them. The walk itself is a rewarding experience since you can see a Tundra life: vegetations, animals, and type of rocks that can survive extreme weather...Blessed with all this features, then i continued to drive down to the Grand Lake, enjoyed the beautiful sunset, and staying for a night there. The following morning, the trip continued further down to the city of Golden....
Some pictures of the trip have been uploaded here and still have more to process (I shooot in RAW so it takes time to process them :-)...
