This series is a collection of my B&W pictures taken in NYC during my 2007 Thanskgiving vacation. It was a five days vacation and also my first time to NYC.
I brought my two lovely gears with me; 350D and D80, and accompanied by several lenses: Sigma 10-20, Nikkor 55-200VR, Tammy 17-50, and my new Canon L lenses 70-200 IS), in a hope that I could capture some fine moments from my trip.
Before the trip, I also set up another goal, i.e. I would like to see NYC in black and white...I would like to feel the true spirit and emotion of the city without any color distraction or manipulation :-).
But once I stood up at the Times Square, I soon realized that seeing New York City in monochrome was a daunting challenge...It was difficult to think in mono as wherever you walk, whenever you stop, all you can see is a world of thousands vibrant colors and lights..You can not get rid of them, they are everywhere surrounding you, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week...A city that never sleeps!
Anyway, here is a collection of my interpretation of seeing NYC in black and white...I remember one interesting quote from famous photographer(too bad I forgot who said that), it sounds like this..."When you see a picture in color, that is a treat for your eyes, but when you see a picture in black and white, then you will also have a treat for your soul"...I guess he is absolutely right on this!
Daunting challenge... and for sure a successful challenge ; wonderful report, architecture, people, daily life mood and feeling ; also like a lot "NY buildngs and palces".
