Here is a collection of butterly pictures taken at the Cockrell Butterfly Centre this weekend (Oct 12, 2007). This wonderful attraction is located in a glass house inside the Museum of Natural Science, Houston.
It was a great and fun experience to walk inside the glass house surrounded by hundreds of flying butterflies! I've been to a similar place in Sentosa island, Singapore...and I would say that my time and money were well spent at both places, especially if you love to take pictures and love to see one of the most beautiful creatures on earth!
Armored with my first VR lens, a cheapo but trustable Nikkor 55 - 200, a Giottos monopod, and my lovely D80, I spent about 3 hours there taking about 150's shots (as usual, only few pics coming as keepers :-), until a nice staff came to me and told me that the place was about to close (believe me, time flying fast there!). Having experienced all the hurdles and fun there, for sure I make my next wish list lens...you bet...yup, a macro lens!
