...Over the years, I have searched for and found enough of the correct 914-6 GT factory Scheel seat-rails to allow me the luxury of installing no less than 4 top-rails with the incorporated adjustment/lock levers http://www.pbase.com/9146gt/image/88660125 on both GT Scheel seats. The four adjustment/lock levers offers the added security by locking both upper seat-rails to the bottom rails.

The not so obvious. Please be aware that the seat-rail spacing of the factory 914 seats and the GT Scheel racing seats are NOT the same, look here http://www.pbase.com/9146gt/image/88660142 and here too http://www.pbase.com/9146gt/image/88660143. The GT Scheel racing seats are much wider than the stock factory 914 and you will need to either relocate the inner seat-rail track of the seat or fabricate a custom bracket to make up the off-set http://www.pbase.com/9146gt/image/88660142 between the upper seat-rails and the floor board attached lower seat-rails. Also, another area to pay attention to is when bolting both upper seat-rails to the bucket seats. Make sure both rails are perfectly aligned on the same axis using a straight-edge across them. If by chance either rail is tilted out of horizontal alignment http://www.pbase.com/9146gt/image/89627929 you will need to correct this or your rails will bind. The more time you spend making sure ALL is 'square' and fitting 'correct', the happier you'll be with the seat and rail installation.

If you need the 'headroom' at the top, your only choice may very well be to use the factory 914 mounting brackets and pivots as these will provide the lowest point of attachement but reclining the GT Scheel seat a little too far back for my taste http://www.pbase.com/9146gt/image/88800790 - The front of the seat-rails also offer some level of adjustment, see here http://www.pbase.com/9146gt/image/88800857

If 'headroom' is not an issue nor the additional necessary expense to fabricate these custom-made seat-rail brackets, then without questions, you may want to consider using the 'Rally' type mounting brackets. The 'Rally' type brackets will raise the rear of the GT Scheel seat http://www.pbase.com/9146gt/image/88800817 approximately 1.5" inches bringing it, in my opinion, to a more horizontal and confortable sitting position http://www.pbase.com/9146gt/image/88803452. An added benefit this Rally brackets provide is a very strong and rigid attachment point to the rear of the seat-rails.
