Yes, most defiantly the back was cut off and a flat was welded onto the back which allows it to be bolted onto the vertical sheet metal of the front bumper support. You can clearly see the three bolts in the back. This would also shorten the overall depth of the light assy. Thus keeping it within the confines of the front bumper auxiliary light opening. This would also minimize the trimming of the front bumper to accommodate the light assy.
