The Classic Car Gallery is proud to offer this gorgeous ERA FORD GT40 MK I. This car was just completed, and has less than 170 break-in miles. The kit was originally ordered and purchased in 1990, but the project was only recently completed. Great attention was paid to keep the car as close to original Ford GT40 spec as possible. The current owner purchased the car, and with the help of ERA in New Britain, CT, she was finished in 2010. No expense was spared in the specifications of the car, and she was built to a very high standard in every way. The 408 CID Windsor motor was built by Kuntz and Craft in 1993. She is fully balanced and blueprinted, with ported aluminum heads, Venolia dished pistons, MSD ignition, Victor Jr. intake manifold with Holly double pumper carb, MSD ignition system, “bundle of snakes” exhaust system and to much more to list. She was then flow tested and fully dynoed at over 500 horsepower!!! We have full documentation on all aspects of the motor and chassis build. She shifts through a correct ZF 5-speed gearbox, and rides on Halibrand style knock-off rims. She is currently shod with Hoosier slick tires. The car has plexiglass side windows, which have been removed for the summer driving season. The steel ERA monocoque chassis is faithful to the original MK IV, and has been rust proofed. The blue and orange GULF JOHN WYER RACING livery is stunning, and the optional flaired fenders give the car a menacing look. The leather interior shows as new, as does the dash and gauges. This car is an absolute blast to drive, and is ready for the street or track.
