NP - Stoddard 1970 Porsche 914-6 GT - sn 914.043.1665

This 914-6 was converted in the early 70's to GT "spec" by Stoddard, a Porsche authorized dealer http://www.stoddard.com/ - Mr. Tom Fielitz owned the GT for many years and recently sold it to Bernie Buschen of the Seattle, Washington area. The 914-6 received the factory 100 Liter Fuel Tank and correct 100mm Aluminum Fuel Cap, the Front Shock Tower Steel Reinforcements, factory Steel Fender Flairs, factory 908 Calipers, Rear Vented Brakes, Rear Chassis Steel Reinforcemnets, Rear Sway Bar, GT Door Panels, the 250 Speedo and 10,000 RPM Tachometer. In the upcoming months, Bernie will be sharing with us the progress of the final steps to complete the conversion back to full factory 914-6 GT specifications. Luckily for Bernie, over the years, he has collected most of the factory original 914-6 GT components he needs. Stay tuned!

Many years ago there was an article in Pano describing his 2.8 914/6 in detail. I have been trying to find that article. I am interested in his conversion of the clutch to a pull clutch and what clutch cable he used. The 2.2 clutch seems too short. Anyone with experience doing this conversion please write about it. Thanks,Warren Williams

After 12 years my 1970 914-6 "GT" is finally going to be put back on the road, but first she will receive a sympathetic restoration along with a full mechanical rebuild which will include a very special engine. More to come, as Armando would say "Stay Tuned".

Yes actually... and I don’t think that you’re crazy for asking either.

I personally found that car listed in the Pano classifieds section back in 2003, call it a fluke (as I never read the classifieds when I get the magazine in the mail, but that day I did).

My intention was to buy the car and almost did, but instead, I called my friend Bernie in Seattle, told him about it, gave him 5 seconds to make his decision and the rest is now history. I should clip the mag ad and post it on the GT photo gallery, it's part of its’ history now. BTW, you may already know Bernie Buschen (Seattle, WA), he’s the current owner of the car which is currently being restored. PS: Bernie made a good deal, just the factory 914-6 was worth no less than $15K, then you add the GT 100-liter tank ($7K), 908 front calipers ($3,500+), 2.8 RSR engine with high-butterfly ($35K?), GT Scheel seats ($2K?), an original 10K tach ($1K?), the M471 option ($???), and several other items I’m sure can’t remember… Yes, Bernie didn’t do too bad with that purchase, he owes me a couple of Starbucks…. ; )

It is nice to see that Bernie is taking good care of my old car. It is like he read my mind by changing the bumpers as that was a mod that I toyed with for several years. I hope that Bernie exercises his charge on the track occasionally.
