...I don't have photos of the back of this unit and can't tell yet if it is an original or a reproduction.

Hi Dirk!

The reason why I said I cannot tell if original is because I can not see the back. The Porsche part number at the front of the gauge can be "refaced new" to also show the correct part number 911.641.304.00 but it does not mean it is original. ALL original VDO 10K Tachometer gauges were stamped at the VDO factory in the back of the gauge with "30,000 Imp" (impulses), see this one here http://www.pbase.com/9146gt/image/134241000

If the gauge shows 24,000 or anything else other than "30,000 Imp", then the gauge is NOT original and was converted (changed) to a 10K.
