Jack's nomination story

For the past 30 years Jack has given his time voluntarily to teaching and developing swimming at Wyre Forest swimming club in Worcestershire. Jack's devotion to teaching swimming and coaching started in 1981 and he has balanced this with being a family man and a full time job. Jack has inspired thousands of youngsters and has worked with all abilities within the club-be they struggling to tread water to Olympic 2012 hopefuls such as Amy Smith or Claire Cashmore-Jack champions everyone and makes them strive to develop their skills. Jack has overseen many changes within the club-following the amalgamation of Stourport and Kidderminster Swimming clubs into Wyre Forest Swimming club and he is the longest serving coach. This transition has allowed the the types of swimming teaching and coaching to expand and reach out for example to masters and triathelete sessions-often attended by participants who Jack taught and oversaw thier first length! Jack continues to teach learn to swim on a weekly basis and is the current treasurer of the club overseeing financial running of the club and ongoing development. Jack has always extended his own time to help those families and members of the club who have suffered illness and hardship over the years. I recall Jack being the saviour of one family when their shower broke, Jack was round to assist and fix it like a shot-again all for nothing. Jack really is an unsung champion please give him this chance to be recognised

A nice experience to live the olympics. I was lucky enough to live the 1992 here in Barcelona
