Evesham Bell Tower

The Bell Tower
The Bell Tower in Evesham.

The Bell Tower and Twin Churches
The magnificent Bell Tower and the twin churches of All Saints and St Lawrence are the only major buildings remaining of the once great Abbey, after Henry VIII closed the monasteries in 1540. Whe most of the Abbey was destroyed, the townspeople saved the tower. The tower houses a peal of 14 bells and a recently restored carillon.

looks a very fine tower, one I ought to make sure I visit soon - Henry VIII died frustrated, without a clear heir and probably considerable discomfort from his illness; I would say the abbey won out in the sense it will always carry the mantle of beauty, H the shroud of an overbearing tyrant

Amazing, with the rest of the church missing it is like a huge folly.
Lovely summer-like day!
