Longstone Rock / Longstone Lighthouse
This was taken on a boat trip around the Farne Islands from Seahouses.
I have to say I went on the last day of my holiday and IF I had gone on the first day of my holiday I would have gone a few more times.
It was the best trip I have ever gone on.
Please note it does smell!
Rocky islands, once home to a famous lighthouse keeper, now a sanctuary for seabirds and seals
Location of Victorian heroine Grace Darling's stormy sea rescue
Longstone Lighthouse was built in 1825 and lived in until 1990 when it became automated. Four miles off the Northumberland coast, it was from here that Grace Darling and her father set out to rescue the survivors of a wrecked paddle-steamer, the Forfarshire, when it ran aground on a nearby islet in 1838. Longstone is owned by the National Trust
