On a recent (Oct 06) trip back to the UK I had a look around the Oxford University Museum of Natural History. I had always loved this place, I remembered when I used to have lectures (Systematic Organic Chemistry) in this building, 30 years earlier, and I'd frequently look at the exhibits before and after the lectures. It was a great museum then and it is even better now. It is free for anyone to look around and it isn't one of those keep your distance from the exhibits museums.... this one actually encourages you to touch (although carefully) many of the specimens on display. The information by each exhibit is also given in braille. The museum also has many activities for children and as a consequence it is a big hit with the kids an achievement not too many museums can boast. The building itself is a masterpiece too. If you are ever in the Oxford area, especially if you are with your kids, I highly recommend a visit. Here are a few of the photos (mainly of dinosaurs) from mine.
