These full year calendar templates are in two date formats UK, with the weeks starting on Monday ending Sunday and US, with the weeks starting on Sunday and ending on Saturday. The choice is yours. They are also in two file formats JPG and GIF. The JPEG (.jpg files) are the easiest to use and are the best for the novice or those with little free time and/or limited photographic software. The jpg files should allow simple image paste in and print. I have used GIF files for several reasons: 1. It's a loss less format so the quality may be a hint better. 2. It allows for transparent backgrounds so those who are more skilled in photo manipulation can overlay the template on top of an image of their choice. 3. The transparent background/masked text also makes some color changes more easily accomplished. For some strange reason the transparent background in the gif files has caused the thumbnails to be artifactually displayed as negatives, the original images have white backgrounds. For some strange reason this has caused the thumbnails only to be artifactually displayed as negatives, the original images have white backgrounds. The GIF files which are smaller and so download somewhat faster can easily be converted to .jpgs. Simply open the file using some quality image-manipulation software, such as PhotoShop or Corel PhotoPaint etc, then save the files as a .jpg file, then paste in your resized favorite image (non-copyrighted ie your own, or an image you have permission to use). Note in some programs if you paste in your images into the original .gif files (only 256 colors), without first converting the file to a .jpg or changing the colors to RGB (24 bit) color, your images may be converted to 256 colors producing a poor quality image. These templates are 8.4 MP each (3300 x 2550 pixels 300 dpi) so should print out extremely well at their designed size of 8.5" x 11". Despite the fact that the gif files were exported at 300 dpi they open in many programs at 72 dpi, to ensure these images print at their designed size you may have to resize the image from 72 dpi back to 300 dpi (this problem is not usually encountered with the jpg files). To do this resize your image maintaining the original pixel image size (to do this in PhotoShop you remove the check from the resample box, in Corel PhotoPaint you check the maintain original size box) and increase the dpi from 72 to 300. This will produce an image of 8.5" x 11" which will require a printer capable of borderless or near borderless printing using standard 8.5" x 11" photopaper. If you do not have a borderless printer, you can select "print to fit paper" if your software offers this option or use 330 dpi instead of 300 dpi when you resize the image. This will now make the image 10" x 7.7" giving you sufficient border for most printers (remember to print the image centered on the page, or towards the bottom if you reduced the dimensions of the image. There are other ways to resize your image but other methods may result in a slightly higher quality loss. There is some further template specific information under some of the provided templates. I recommend using the best photographic quality paper available, and a printer capable of at least 1200 dpi, and always check print preview before potentially wasting a bunch of ink a few sheets of photopaper (a trial print on regular paper in draft mode is often a good idea). The example files are only low resolution and not suitable for printing and were merely produced to illustrate the use of these calendar templates.

Dear guest you'll find answers in more detail on the FAQ page... http://www.pbase.com/455rocket/faq but there are three things you could do to solve this 1) simply save the template as a jpg (see FAQs). 2) flatten or combine all objects with the background or 3) paste the template over your appropriately sized image if you wish to use the transparent background feature.

From what others have posted these should make great calendars. However, I can't get the templates to do anything. :-( When I open a saved template in Photoshop there's a big checkerboard grid in the middle. And then when I attempt to paste my image into the file all I get is a very greyed out version of my original picture that covers up the original template. I think I'll have to just give up and find easier templates on the web.
