We were sitting outside when we noticed a large scale ant battle in progress. Two rival colonies, a fight to the death, and the spoils of war for the victor.
Here's a few of the "Ant battle" macros (coolpix 995). It's not too easy to get good shots when they are fighting for their lives, they just won't hold still for the camera.
After a little web-search I think these ants are Camponotus chromaiodes?
