This monastery was built in Segovia, Spain in 1141. William Randolph Heart purchased the monastery and had the building dismantled and shipped to the USA with the intention to rebuild the monastery at his castle in California. The monastery remained in a warehouse in Florida for 26 years until it was purchased by Florida developers who reassembled the monastery at its current location in North Miami Beach in 1952. It is claimed that this monastery is the oldest building in the western hemisphere.
