Altos de Chavon is a re-creation of a medieval Spanish village on a bluff above the Rio Chavon. It is part of the Casa de Campo resort. It also contains an artist collage as well as shops, restaurants and a 5,000-seat amphitheatre where artists from Frank Sinatra to Carlos Santana have played. I visited on a rainy late afternoon just as tropical storm Dennis was starting to affect the weather. The rain kept most of the tourists away, so I had the place mostly to myself. Although touristy, it is definately worth a visit if in the area.
