I am Charley Isom's daughter, Lucy Isom Smith. He served from 1942-1945 in North Africa and Italy. He never spoke about his time in the military, I think in part because his brother was killed overseas, and I would like to learn about that part of his life. He married Ida Mae Currie on September 15, 1945 in San Saba, Texas. Charley passed away in 1982 and Ida Mae passed away in 2010. They had 8 sons and 4 daughters. They were the best parents in the world, and I would like to share any stories or information that anyone has with my daughter who is now 15.

Please correct the spelling of my last name-DIRKES. Thankyou. Also, I was company messenger during 1946-47. My roommates at Hotel Holler were Jack Reck(deceased) and Jack Norwood(Dallas, Texas).

In regards to the message posted by Roy Dorkes dated 17-Jun-2007, my father, Jose Galaviz, has just passed away (19-Sep-07) in Mansfield, Texas. Even though he didn't have but a few pictures from his service days, he was extremely proud of his service with the 202 MP and his detail in Vienna with General Clark in 1946. It took us a while to find a picture that indicated to us what unit he was with, but we did find one with a 4-star General (presumably Gen. Clark) who was reviewing the 202 MPs in what only can be assumed was Vienna, Austria. Any other info on this topic, or if you remember my father would be greatly received by us. God Bless you and thank you for your service to this great nation of ours.

Any news re 202 MP stationed in Vienna in 1946? I was there as personal body guard for General Mark Clark. We were bilited in the Hotel Holler.
