Memphis, Richmond, New Baltimore...Michiganians, like Rhode Islanders, seem to name their places after other places. We do it so we can pretend we're not stuck in Rhode Island -- and instead in beautiful Carolina or Wyoming. Or Wenasquatucket (we can barely sound out words like 'illegal,' but any three year old can rattle off that one. Go figure).
