Too bad the iconic barber poles are gone. Them were the days. V

A fine shot, one that resonates with meaning, especially for those of us who have been going to this sort of barber shop for decades.

I go to the same type place. Same mags and yes, even Bonanza on the tv. I feel at home there.
Guest 30-Jul-2013 20:59
What's all the fuss? I STILL get my hair cut there! It's the old "man's" barbershop..."Field & Stream" on the tables, "Bonanza" on the TV (unless there's a Tigers game). It's what I remember from my youth...not these "salons" they have now!

This brought back many memories today since I greww up less than 3 blocks from Reds on Clay Street.

I remember this well. My brother's first haircut! My home town.

Wow! You actually still have barber shops in
Michigan? That's so cool, as is this photo.
Ann Cleeves18-Mar-2008 10:57
Just love the mood this composition creates....sort of cosily cold! Wonderful capture of the snowfall, and that clock is gorgeous.
Robyco20-Feb-2008 13:14
The snow really makes the mood even stronger !! (V)

For some reason I like looking at winter shots in the summer, and summer shots in the winter. It took a lot of trust to lend your camera to some old geezer, but the shot worked out well.
Jay Levin23-Jun-2007 06:47
A great shot that just ruined my summer. LOL I wonder who lives on the second floor? Vote!!

I vote for snow! And for this beautiful capture! V!
flowsnow19-Jun-2007 16:29
Indeed I am sure Larry it's refreshing to many to see the snowfall shot what more for me with no snow and always sunny all year round! :D John Cooper is right, I believe somebody has a bad scalp and full of dandruff. LOL
dan dunn19-Jun-2007 16:27
neat shot with the snow flakes
Steve Ainsworth19-Jun-2007 16:27
Another great slice of Americana. I'm offering to send Dave some of the 95 degree heat we're having here in DC today, but only if he takes the humidity with it.
Barb19-Jun-2007 15:55
Love old building shot. Cool shot. :-)

It's pretty as long as I don't have to experience it. Give me the heat any day.
Hodero19-Jun-2007 06:21
Cann't imagine anyone wants to cut his hair in this freezing cold ;-)
Great image,almost like a painting.

I never knew that there was a New Baltimore. Now I find out that it's right at the base of Michigan's thumb. Thank goodness Some Old Geezer was there to capture that beautiful snowfall. It sure beats the sticky summer heat. The little accents of red in the barber poles, the flag and Red's neon sign perfectly brighten the composition in its white blanket.

I'm afraid I can't go with your lawyer, since I have Dewy, Cheatem & Howe on retainer. Click and Clack are my mechanics, too.

Your cool gallery is a refreshing place to be.
Tom Briggs19-Jun-2007 00:24
Ahhhhhhhh, there's nothing like June in Michigan ...

Pick Axe? Moose County?
Char19-Jun-2007 00:03
Hi Larry,
That's what you get when you live 400 miles from everywhere. (making fun from Braun book) LOL What a fabulous picture!! I love everything about this picture. A perfect scene for a 90 degree day....or any other for that matter.
Cindi Smith18-Jun-2007 23:35
