I picked up the smaller log and sniffed it.
Then I took a bite off the end of it.
"That band of roving thugs passed through here
less than two hours ago," I says......

What a campers paradise! It even has a tire so the kids can have something to do.

Tracking? You mean like on a VCR?
I saw Deliverance once. Never again.

Did you even notice the tire in this photo? About 1/3 up and 1/3 from right.

Nice tire, Larry--always adds character to a stream.

very beautiful wild image - there are similar places in Transylvania - makes me nostalgic for a trip to the mountains. V

Good detective work! Were the thugs in a car that lost a tire?

I just realized that must be a beaver lodge toward the center back. The hodgepodge of branches anchored to the fallen tree is the dam. Since grass is growing on the lodge, it must be a well established one. Plus, I think they probably have a car, since there's a spare tire just at the left side of the frame. I bet the fire is left over from a recent beaver cookout. Next time, try to get there before they do the marshmallows.

"You mean I was actually right for once?" Holmes asked. "Yiippee!"

Larry, look in the water, under the big log, you missed the body wedged under it.

'Yes, you are right, Holmes', Dr. Watson said ...

Don't let anybody tell you that you need more fiber in your diet! Sounds like you got that covered forever. Although if your toes start to itch, it could be termites. I do recommend against sitting on glowing embers to detect how long ago the fire was started, however. While it can be a very warming experience, you generally can manage it only once. ;^D
