Lee, Michigan's desert is different than California. This is built on its edge and that white stuff is sand. It is so hot steam comes off the ground and circles the building as it works its way into the atmosphere.

I love the saturation and the contrast between the deep red buildings, the silver sheet metal structures and the sea green sky. The icicles hanging from the red building's eaves remind you of how very cold it must have been that day. The composition is also very pleasing, with the appearance of nested shapes growing largers as you move toward the back of the frame. It's a delightful photograph, rich with that midwestern feeling of industry in all weather.
