Suzanne, I never would have posted this if not for your old cemetery photos that show the precise age of the deceased. A great old time cemetery gallery..

I've been doing a lot of work in old cemeteries recently, so I've come to appreciate how much you can tell just from the grave stone itself. This is one of those very thin slices of marble. The tools to cut granite economically had yet to be invented. These stones can crack and crumble fairly easily, so it's a very good thing when you find one in tact to make a photographic record of it. It's probably one of the older stones in the whole property...very much in the style of the prairie settlers. Am I correct in making out the lowest line to be telling the exact age of Elizurl Goodman? The very last word appears to be "years," while the first word in that line seems like "Aged." To me this is a very moving photograph you've shared with us.

It looks fine! Great work, Larry.

:-) do you wanna set the stone straight again? Anyway not nice to be drown at age 35.

it looks fine...i don't think i could do much better. the only thing i would change would be to try and keep some detail in the snow behind the stone....this can be done several ways, but i would do it with with curves (depends which version of elements you have..i know the newest one has this feature)

Interesting scene. I like the inscription and those hoof tracks in the snow! Were you on horse back? Nope, I can't help with your stoner needs.
crina.06-Feb-2007 16:15
