(thanks, Dan)

I think it's nice there's a florist right across the street from McSorley's, for the wife's birthday, the anniversary, "coming home late from McSorley's again" day, etc.

I betcha that you can ride bikes in the street, though. I see signs like that here in Illinois, but they're really to keep down the maiming of pedestrians on sidewalks by fiendish cyclists in too-tight racing suits and alien helmets. Those guys never look back, leaving a wake of crunched toes and side-swiped shopping bags.

I am just as surprised as you to see the ban on bikes.

Nice photo, by the way.

Larry et al, I believe Larry's comment that the town is full of lawyers explains the sign (sorry in advance to all you lawyers who are also good people: please speak louder so I can hear you!). The lawyers probably had the sign put up hoping it might generate some business through frivilous lawsuits.

Lee, you sure you aren't living in New York?
1moremile06-Aug-2006 23:03
Or a poor girl, either, Tian. Sorry. I don't know why but that's their rules. It is not a high class town, though, at all. But it has class.

Another good Mayberry RFD picture!
If I took a picture like this in my city..the driver of this car and the drivers of the 3 other cars that would be trying to pass her on the right would be showing you the 1 finger wave... Great scene!!
Wei O'Connell06-Aug-2006 16:54
It's a high class town! A poor guy who rides a bike to work cannot go there???

Too funny, once again a color photo with a colorful story.
Greg Harp06-Aug-2006 04:55
Terrific color composition.

OnStar (infected by the Listorama Virus): "Yes we can. From the west side of McSorley's, turn right and go 18 miles. It's the first green building beyond the rendering plant. You can't miss it. If you get lost on the long straightaway, call back at 1-800-URN-SANE."

Thanks, Gary. It did have some pretty dark shadows over about half of it.
Dave, I think that's a bank or at least a financial establishment. I am pretty sure the corner of it is seen here
and John, it is not a fake. Not this time. I would have made the flags blow the same direction. Also would have straightened the "no biking" sign and wouldn't have put a girl in the window upstairs. Except for tweaking the contrast and colors I did nothing, except crop.
I just always thought Mount Clemens was a cool looking town. It is not a ghost town. It is after five and most everyone went home. It is mostly lawyers here.
John Cooper05-Aug-2006 09:02
Possibly a fake. The flag in the centre is limp. The flag on the roof is streaming to the left in a strong wind.
If you do not know the driver, it could be a transvestite. In which case you should apologise to women generally for generalizing about them.
Is this a modern ghost town ?
Where are the bicycles etc, banned from, the road, the pavement, or the town ?
Dave Beedon05-Aug-2006 04:40
The reflections in the three windows at right are gorgeous! Is that a bank?

Looks like Pleasantville. Really like the processing!
