1942 MY DAD GOES TO WAR
LARRY DAVID BRADEN

1942 MY DAD GOES TO WAR

MIDDLESBORO KENTUCKY

MIDDLESBORO KENTUCKY
My Dad is kneeling, bottom, 2nd guy from left, with his finger on his knuckle.
He is showing where in Michigan he is moving his family.
For a small town that wasn't exactly rich, they all are
dressed well, don't you think?
His name is Arther---not as some would think as Arthur.
I don't know why. I think it's pretty cool, though.
He was the oldest son of Claude and Lilly Mae Bussell Braden.
Was a cook to keep him out of harm's way as he
was the wage earner of a very large family.

Such somber history. Very personal.

What was your Dad's name?

What this photo taken in the town of Middlesboro? If so, a copy would be a great addition to the Bell County Historical Museum.

I have the utmost respect for men that did their duty.
Not the people that caused war, they are in a different class.

A lot of nervously smiling faces.

It is so nice that this photo exists! Not only does it document a typical scene in a very turbulent time, but it also provides some family history. Those men must have been in their teens and 20s. I wonder what things these men saw. Some of them never returned home.
