Butterfly Memorial Garden

The Northeast Philadelphia Butterfly Memorial Garden is located near the Northeast Philadelphia Airport off Grant Avenue. It was created in 2004 to remember those children and siblings who left this earth before their time. I discovered the garden by accident while driving through Northeast Philadelphia recently and took some time to walk among the flowers and read some of the memorial bricks that ring the garden walkway. Some young families were there that day, children chasing buttterflies and frisbees on the grass while their parents sat on the wrought iron butterfly benches smiling. I'm sure that the garden is therapeutic for those who have suffered a devastating loss. I plan to keep going back to try to record the beauty and serenity of the garden kept alive by the undying memories of loved ones.
