The Howling

December 14

Office

I was captivated by the moon as I left the office yesterday evening.
The thin clouds added an atmosphere that was interesting and erie.
I searched for trees to add an earthly connection, but none looked
quite right. I finally found a cluster of dried seed heads on some
Sedum and took two exposures to combine for a cleaner silhouette.

Another David Clunas inspiration...

As a general rule I am not a fan of composite shots but I really like this one. It really sticks with you.

"I seen it!...I seen it! It sometimes comes out on the night of the full "Scotts Moon"!! It was big, and hairy, and smelled real bad!...It... was...The Swamp Thang!!"

Very lovely image. I tried to get the moon last night with the huge ring around it but failed.
Guest 14-Dec-2005 21:15
The Howling... very dodgy werewolf film from the 80's? I remember being scared witless!
The black, almost molten looking undergrowth and that eerie grey sky make for a perfect setting for this title. Well done :)
Naomi 14-Dec-2005 20:40
I photographed the moon last night, too, but mine looks very different.
This is lovely, indeed.
Guest 14-Dec-2005 20:32
Nicely done Scott, I'd not have figured out the tree silhouettes were in fact sedum!

Amazing thats Sedum..looks like a wood of oak tree tops!
A haunting, daunting yet warming image because of the light glow from a nearby town maybe.
An image worthy of getting your knees dirty to capture it! :)

Fantastic.
I am 85% happy with my camera, but if I were to get a new one it would be to attempt shots like this.
This is very nice.
