Back lighting accentuates the vascular system, insect damage
and the markings left over a growing season. The chloro-
phyll leaves the leaf exposing the colors/pigments beneath
right before the tree enters a dormant winter's "sleep".

Beautiful light, and excellent detail. I prefer the colour version as I think it accentuates the light and details better than the B&W version.

Beautiful...

Both are great shots! I think I like this one better because of the effect of the backlighting.

I think I like the color version a bit better. Regardless, it's a good crop and amazing detail.

Stunning. The backlighting is wonderful. Excellent clarity. You're getting quite a bit of DOF at f4 unless you cropped a bit. At f4, this close, I usually get a razor thin DOF with the 100mm macro. Nice work- love it!

I love the light and composition. Almost like a big butterfly. And all those lovely details. Beautiful despite the age spots. All part of the natural cycle.

Both work for me, the backlighting here is just right not too much light and I like the pool of light in the bg adding that extra tone to the image.

Nice color and detail, Scott. I like the subtle shadows falling
across them too.

Beautiful backlighting, Scott. Much as I love mono, I think the colour one is better here.
