The doctors believe it's important for Aiden's treatment that he spend time in the comfort of home when possible. Although his counts are still dropping, he is doing great. We will come to the clinic throughout each week for his blood counts and administration of chemotherapy. If all goes well and he stays "healthy", he will be treated on an outpatient basis until his transplant.

The news brings us mixed emotions. As much as we want to go home, it's scary. We will need to establish a risk-free environment where Aiden can still enjoy the pleasures of being a kid. It will be necessary to prevent germs/illness throughout his treatment. If Aiden's temperature gets up to 100.4, it will be reason enough to send us back to the hospital. Scrapes and scratches are no longer simple fixes. They would expose him to infection and bleeding. This is our new normal. We are going to make every minute matter.
