The Yorkshire Sculpture Park, one of the world’s leading open-air galleries, set in the grounds of the 500-acre Bretton estate at Wakefield in the county of Yorkshire. The estate and gardens date back to the 18th century. The landscape has topographical height variations of over 21 metres (66 feet) and has a mixture of woodland areas, water, formal gardens and open spaces including four indoor galleries.
Sculptors on display in the park, consists of contemporary and Modern sculpture (from Rodin and Bourdelle through to younger living artists). It is this variation that creates a rich environment for some of the best contemporary sculptures created by international artists. YSP presents changing special exhibitions and individual works by eminent artists all year round, so there are always at least 40 sculptures on display in the landscape by artist such as Mark di Suvero, Helen Escobedo, Brian Fell, Alec Finlay, Elisabeth Frink, Andy Goldsworthy, Antony Gormley, Nigel Hall, Barbara Hepworth, Henry Moore, Dennis Oppenheim, Mimmo Paladino, Eduardo Paolozzi, Sophie Ryder, James Turrell, Winter/Hörbelt and Michael Zwingmann.
