:: Cuba ::
Facebook is good for many things ! What do you do, when you're running out of places to visit ? You put a status message on FB asking your friends for suggestions, and that's exactly what I did!
Got a few good ideas, but one I couldn't turn down ! My mate David needed a deckhand to help him sail his yacht to Marina Hemmingway, Havana. We met up in Key West, had a few beers, and said "what are we waiting for ?" Next morning we set sail and headed towards the outter keys; Boca Grande and Fort Jefferson. Smooth seas, beautiful beaches, blue water and then suddenly there it was; Havana ! We were met with open arms by the Cuban Immigration, unlike their colleagues up North, and quickly got tied up to the dock. A 20 minute cab-ride and we were in the heart of Havana ! I spent three magic weeks in Cuba, as the following pictures hopefully will show :) More pix will be on my website; www.larsmolin.com very soon !
:: SOUTH AFRICA ::
I'm a man of many adventures, if it doesn't find me, I'll go searching for it - that's the way it has always been, and always will be.. Well, South Africa, what a beautyful and friendly country, and to my delight sooooooooo full of adventure, more so than anywhere else I've been to date !
I spent 6 weeks exploring everything from Soweto to the Kalahari to the wet mountain roads of Lesotho and Swaziland - and then there were the beaches in Cape Town..
If you haven't been there yet - then it's time to pack your bags and get going ! Enjoy the pix :)
:: Galapagos Wildlife ::
this is part of a larger project sharing a couple of hundred images or so from my 3-week trip to Islas Galapagos, so more to follow... - for more wildlife images, please feel free to stop by www.larsmolin.com
To those researching a trip to Galapagos, I would suggest spending minimum 2 weeks divided equally between a cruise and a landstay at Puerto Ayora and Isabella. The yacht I went with, M/Y Guantaramera was okay, but likely like every other little cruise-ship wanna-bees lacked some general safety standards. I would still recommend this vessel all depending on your budget of course.. - one week was just about 1,000 USD plus 5 dives, which were amongst the best I've done to date !
If you plan to do the sights by own yacht a very helpful resource is the local agent John Gallagher, who can be reached at info@galapagosyachtclub.com
:: Istanbul Passage ::

In this gallery you will see images from 7 magic days together with my brother, Klaus.
The trip had been underway for a while, and Klaus met up with the yacht in Villefranche, between Nice and Monaco. From there we set "sail" and continued towards Istanbul via Cap Corse (North end of Corsica), a quick hit and run lava-collection expedition in Stromboli, through the Straits of Messina onwards to Turkey. The seas were smooth, the sun was shinning, a light breeze blowing and the Dolphins jumping. Istanbul in itself, of course, was like a completely different world ! Buzzling with street vendors, crazy drivers, stray cats, markets, mosques and the Bosphorus Strait with tankers and containerships of different nationalities constanly moving by. The most memorable experience, apart from the Dentist, was probably the dinner on the rooftop terrace of the Sultan Pub overlooking the Blue Mosque at sunset. Another, perhaps more interesting, was our visit to the Hamam (Turkish Bath), where we got the chance to sweat out all the Efes and Carlsbergs that went down so easily in the heat. All in all a brilliant week together ! - See you next summer, Klaus
:: YACHTING WORLD ::
Welcome onboard my Yachting Gallery !
For nearly 13 years I've been quite fortunate living my life on and around Megayachts. Working on yachts is an awesome job, yes with some sacrifices, but plentifold made up by great experiences and interesting people. To mention a few of the places my job has taken me, I would say destinations such as Alaska, Vancouver Island, Mexico, Panama, the Grenadines, St Lucia, Anguilla, the Bahamas, Savannah, NYC, Nantucket, Bermuda, the Azores, Mallorca, St Tropez, Monaco, Corsica, Amalfi Coast, Capri, Sicily, Malta, Croatia and Turkey stand out. I never really found the Greek islands that spectacular, perhaps because a place such as Croatia has all the same without the crowds..
Anyway, enjoy my gallery, and feel free to leave a comment, that be if you're interested in working on a yacht or simply because you enjoy the album :)
:: Croatian moments ::
The summer of 2006 I was cruising the Croatian waters onboard the M/Y Asteria.
Croatia quickly soared to my Top 3 list of places to recommend. Other than being culturally very appealing, I was welcomed everywhere with the warmest and most sincere hospitality, I have seen in Europe to date. From a photographers perspective the place is full of character, great light and photo opportunities. Go check it soon ! Various pix from this gallery will also be displayed on my site www.larsmolin.com

:: CAN2008 African Soccer Fans ::

Every two years Africa puts on, well if not "the biggest show on earth", then "the most colourful show on earth" - at least with regards to the world of sports :)
Africans are obsessed with soccer, or should I just go ahead and call it football, which is the term used by 6.2 billion people worldwide... Anyway, there's a craze going on in the streets and small villages around Ghana. Everywhere you look, you see the "Black Stars" (Ghana team name) jerseys worn by little kids, taxi drivers, old ladies, people driving to work, street vendors - you name it !
I had the luck of timing my travels in West Africa just right, in order to take part in this show, mainly at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium in Accra. I hope, the images in this album will give you a good impression of, what it's like being surrounded by 45,000 crazy African soccer (there I said it again !) fans.
Should you have the time, CAN2010 will be on in Angola early January, 2010 - I'll be there, most certainly :)
As an interesting little side note, African cross-dressers and homosexuals take great advantage of the show, and can be seen at the stadiums dressed up (or down) in some great costumes. Homosexuality is generally illegal in this region, so good on 'm for taking this opportunity to get out in the streets showing all the colours of the rainbow...
(Pix from Ivory Coast - Mali on Jan 29th are found on page 1, quarterfinal Ghana - Nigeria Feb 3rd on pages 1-4,the semifinal between Ghana - Cameroon on Feb 7th 2008, pages 4-7, and the final on Feb 10th 2008 between Egypt-Cameroon you will find on pages 7-11).
:: My way through Africa ::
Travelling in Africa is not always easy. Breakdowns really are the rule more than the exception, dusty roads, having to deal with the poverty while turning my back to the crowd of starving children, unorganized management and I could go on and on... - yes, I'm dying to have a pizza and a cold beer !
Anyway, in this album you will see a few pix of people I have met, and friends I have made during my travels.Keep checking in, as I'll be updating it within the coming couple of weeks. A separate "Africa album" with my normal style photography will be created, once/if I make it back :)
PS. Don't forget you can double-click on the images for a larger picture !

I was walking around Savannah, Georgia, when I met this lovely couple, about to give each other their word of eternal love and affection. If anyone knows this couple, I'd be happy to share my whole shoot with them..
