Ed, Isaac Cole was my Great Great Great Grandfather and I am interested in finding more information about his military exploits. I think he was in the battle of the Haw River in NC. but I don't have a lot of info. I also know he fought in the Indian Wars but again I don't have any details. Thanks.

Mr Ed Talbott

I read tbe article that you posted about the crash of a P51 Mustang near Burkes Garden Virginia and I used to live in Tazewell which is nearby. I had a friend at that time that belonged to the Civil Air Patrol and me and him and some guys climbed the mountain and viewed the downed aircraft and little was left except a few scrapes of aluminum and glass and I believe the military probably removed most of the wreckage. It was in year 1958 possibley 1959 that I viewed the crash site. Should you have any questions in regard to this note you can contact me. I know live with my wife in Pittsburgh, Pa north of the city about 21 miles in a nice town. I understand you live in Grundy, Va. Thanks Ralph Clear

Ed, Wow...where to start? In my Parents garage I have found an old family tree in a broken frame. The main trunk has the names Joseph Talbott and Mary Burket. The dates go from the 1720's thru 1800's. This is a large tree with aprox 500 names on it. This may be a very common print and you may have one on every wall of your house, I'm just wondering if my family originated from one of these branches. My father has passes and my mother knows very little about this. If you have the time, could you reply to mooman92@aol.com and help me with a few questions. Thanks, Mark

Hello, I found on the Talbott site some family members that I also have in my family tree. Who do I contact to find out more. Are you related to the Cashdollar family or were you just taking pictures of the Union Cemetery? I would also love to know where the location is of this cemetery since it may contain more members of my family.

Thank you

This is a great site, love the old photos you are sharing. They are treasures and it is fantastic to see someone sharing with others.
I descend from Margaret "Maggie" Talbott who married Issac Harlan Jr. I have not proven her parents but believe it is John Talbott, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Johns, some of their childen removed to Jefferson Co. OH. My fathers family is all from Jeff. Co. Oh.
Thanks again for you generousity.

Ed,

this slideshow on the Cranberry Glades area was a wonderful nostalgic trip for me. I used to spend summers teaching at our Biological Field Station in Highland Co., Va, and we always took trips to the Cranberry region, where we enjoyed birding, flowers, herptiles, and photography.

What a wonderful area it is!

Your pictures are wonderful, and I really enjoyed the trip.

As they say, "Thanks for the Memories!"

Ed, Your photos are quite a pleasure to see! I have volunteered to lead a joint club hike for the Johnson City (TN) Hikers and the Mid-Appalachian Highlands Hiking Club -- a 13 mile tour of the Beartown Wilderness on May 31. I've hiked in Beartown 4 times & plan to backpack and further explore the area for several days next wk. You show 6 photos of a white rock from which you can view Burkes Garden. Is it N and then East of the 4710 ft high point? Seen any rattle snakes? Any trail to this rock? Any trail from the rock area down to Burkes Garden? Any information you can give on routes to the crest of Beartown (Clinch or Garden Mt) would be greatly appreciated. I've hiked up from the jct of Cove Branch and Roaring Fork and also from Chestnut Knob and Heninger Gap. Phone: 423-943-8866 (cell). You and Michelle are welcome to join us on this hike if you wish.I can provide you with the web sites of the two hiking clubs if you like. Incidently, my late brother Paul Harris had a life list of over 600 birds and was once pres of TOS in Chattanooga TN. I am more into the wild flowers. PS: It is False hellebore [Veratrum viride](poisonous) that you have labeled as "Hellebore." I've found it very common in some of the shallow streambeds of the Roaring Fork water shed! Thanks for any info!!!

I am the ggg-grandaughter of Isaac Cole, through Augustus, Andrew, Doc Bee, and then my father Dale B. Cole. I have been trying for over 15 years to find Isaac Cole's ancestors. Does anyone know where he was from, or his parent's names?

Ed, I am Archie Thornton's grandson. Is there a way to get copies of a number of these pictures? I would love to have some of them. Granddad is such a role model for all of us and I would love to be able to share photos of him with my children. My oldest son, Jackson who is 5, looks a lot like Archie in the school picture. Thanks, Daniel Thornton. You can email me at amythornton@comcast.net

I am very interested in the photos from the old theatre and in particular the Simplex projector. We just reopened an art deco style theatre in RIchmond, and we have the original Simplex projector which looks very similar. What happened with the theatre you photographed? Great pictures!
